About Us

Shop social is an entirely volunteer based enterprise, created in response to the ongoing Genocide in Gaza, Palestine.

We are reimagining fundraising - using art, design, and commerce to deliver direct action. By integrating business and fundraising, we’re moving beyond one-off donations: offering an alternative to traditional methods that can generate scalable income whilst centring agency and dignity.

At the heart of our work is advocacy through art - using creative expression not just to raise funds but also to tell stories, challenge injustice, and build solidarity across borders. We aim to fund not just survival - but resistance, resilience, and long-term change.

Vision

Building an ethical fundraising ecosystem that redefines global giving through creative commerce - one design, one cause at a time.

Mission

A creative platform transforming design into sustainable, scalable impact for global causes - making it easy to shop in solidarity.

Values

Fundraising should honour autonomy, not erode it. We reject dehumanising practices by innovating empowering ways to support people - not as passive recipients, but equal participants.

How it works

Campaigns

Our creative teams collaborate with fundraisers (individuals, families, grassroots organisations, action groups) to deliver a unique, personalised design that represents them.

Volunteer caseworkers assist fundraisers in constructing design ideas, approvals, and in the telling of their stories that accompany each piece.

The situation of every fundraiser is different and we prioritise the comfort and safety of each; with every step of our process being optional: we understand that some in urgent need do not know what design they would like, so we also provide a pool of art to choose from. Want to donate an art piece to our pool?

We also understand that some people may not want to share their full stories, for safety and many other reasons. Even if you don't see a full story with a design, all our fundraisers are vetted, so you can trust that your money is going to people and causes that need it. See our policies section at the bottom of this page for more information.

Profits are received bi-monthly, and are delivered to fundraisers within 5 working days into their fundraising pages, or accounts (organisations). For people who do not initially have a donation page we offer a set up service. See more about our finances and strategy below.

While we are currently focused on our Prints for Palestine Project, we are always open to helping those who need it. If you or someone you know needs help with their fundraising get in touch.

Production and Sales

We are currently using Shopify to facilitate our online shop. Integrated with Gelato and Order Desk to deliver print-on-demand across regions. This method also helps reduce shipping fees, tariffs, and our environmental impact by splitting orders based on location: production of your purchase will be fulfilled as locally as possible. If we do not deliver to your region please contact us and we will see what we can do for you.

Print-on-demand products mean that we do not hold stock which reduces waste. It also means that unlike other applications, such as Everpress, we do not have a minimum order requirement and your delivery expectations do not depend on sales outside of your control.

For fundraisers this means that each sale made is a payment guaranteed, there will be no cancellation of purchases due to limited stock or low sale.

Being volunteer led, we are not available 24/7 to assist you, because of this cancellations on customer ends are unavailable as we may not be able to reach the printer before your order does.

Finances

100% of profits go to the subject of each campaign. Profits are calculated as the price of the product minus the printing costs and any regional charges (specified at point of sale). There will be some fluctuation in pricing across regions due to these country specific costs: this will ensure that income is more predictable for fundraisers, allowing forward financial planning based on number of overall sales, no additional calculations needed.

We are also selling our own designs to cover website, banking, and marketing costs. These costs will be outlined in quarterly financial reporting. Surplus funds will be saved and divided between beneficiaries.

As we are entirely voluntary, none of our team receive payment.

Strategy

  • Our model uses creative commerce as a fundraising tool, offering a sustainable alternative to donation-dependent giving, and exploitative media monetisation. We aim to challenge colonial, capitalist, and corrupt systems of fundraising and aid. Fighting for a world where resources and power are shared not hoarded.

  • We are committed to clear, open communication - with our customers, our collaborators, and the people we support. Trust is the foundation of our impact. That is why we distribute funds with transparency, emphasize financial autonomy, and reject narratives that reinforce power imbalances; we believe people know what they need - we're here to help resource that, not control it.

  • Rather than splitting attention across many campaigns, we centralize fundraisers through one shared platform and storefront - allowing fundraisers to benefit from shared traffic, increased sales, and the power of collective visibility. It’s a mutual support ecosystem rather than a competitive marketplace.

  • Our designs deliver advocacy through art from the store front to your wardrobe. Every purchase and every use becomes a form of advocacy and solidarity.

  • While our current focus is Gaza and Palestinian liberation, our long-term strategy is to expand globally, supporting a wide range of causes - from climate justice to displacement, from anti-poverty efforts to grassroots resistance. We aim to connect movements, recognizing that the systems we resist are interconnected too.
